How my Magical Journey Began

Deity Work and Worship

Worshipping a god is easy, but working with a god takes a lot of dedication and work. To worship a deity you just have to give them energy, which means you can read about them, draw them, research them, talk about them, and even just think about them. All of those things give energy to the deity.

In this section we will discuss the dos and don'ts of deity work and worship, and yes, there's a lot of both.

A lot of people ask, "How do I choose which deity to work with?" Well, I've been asking myself that for a very long time. Luckily, the deity that I have a relationship with reached out to me personally, so I didn't really have to make a decision. But that rarely ever happens, so here's my advice. Just pick one that speaks to you. If you really enjoy wine, choose Dionysus. Really enjoy battle strategy, choose Athena. You know, make it make sense.

Some gods, even if you feel a connection to them, will not be interested in you or working with you, and that's okay! Don't be too disappointed if this happens. This might happen if you choose a god that doesn't make sense for you to work with based on you as a person. It's just like you not wanting to work with certain deities. I personally would never worship or work with Apollo because of my relationship with Pan, since the two don't really like each other. But Apollo probably couldn't care less, ya know?

The Great God Pan

Pan is the person at the party that goes a little too hard. Pan is the guy at the bar that relentlessly tries to get your number, even when you've made it obvious that you aren't interested. Pan is also someone who would enjoy sitting on a stump in the middle of the woods playing a panflute. What can I say? He's a pretty unpredictable dude.

Now, why would I be interested in this particular deity? I'm not exactly sure to be honest. My entire life I've been given signs that Pan is the God I should speak with, it just took me 21 years to figure it out.

Let me first introduce you to Pan, so you can have a small bit of understanding.

Pan, in ancient Greek religion and mythology, is the god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, rustic music and impromptus, and the companion of the nymphs. Pan is depicted as having the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, in the same way a faun or satyr would. Pan is associated with springtime and fertility because of his affiliation to sex. With his homeland in rustic Arcadia, he is also known as the god of fields, groves, and wooded glens.

Pan was never really worshiped in temples or other built structures, since he was a rustic god he was worshipped in natural settings, usually caves or grottoes.

Information regarding Pan's parents is pretty unclear. Generally he is said to be the son of Hermes and a wood nymph, either Dryope or Penelope. But, some of the early sources say he is the son of Apollo. There's a lot of different theories and stories regarding where he came from. Some even say he is the son of Zeus.

Pan is amoung the oldest of the olympians and was said to have given Artemis her hunting dogs and taught the secret of prophesy to Apollo. Pan was treated poorly by almost all other olympians, as he lead a very free spirited way of life. The only gods that treated Pan with respect seemed to be the underworld gods, go figure.

I'll add more to this later, I'm tired.

Most assume that when you speak with Gods, you have to ask certain questions. Questions like: "What does the future hold for me?" and "How can I get over my lover from 3rd grade?" Well...you don't. You can ask anything you want! And I've found that the more weird the question, the closer I've gotten with deities. I'll give you some examples of what I have asked Pan, or as some call him, The Horned God.

Do you have bananas in Arcadia?

How do you peel a banana? From the top or bottom?

Do you have supermarkets to buy said bananas?

Oh...and do you have the penis of a man or the penis of a goat?

Yes, I've actually asked these questions. And have recieved more than ammusing answers, since Pan is a very sexual God and thought I meant something else when speaking of bananas. Anyways, the point is, you can be friends with a God. The more personal, the more weird, and the more fun you have with said God, the closer you will be.

Pan is somewhat of a pal to me at this point. He answers whenever I speak to him. But, I wouldn't recommend picking just any God to work with. The reason I chose to summon and worship Pan is because he had given me signs all my life that he was the one I should converse with. I was always drawn to fauns/satyrs, I had a big fat crush on the faun from Chronicals of Narnia, I even chose partners that looked similar to the God himself. Then one day, my husband said, "You should look into Pan." And I did. The point is, I had Pan's address already.

I'll add more to this section too, I'm just bored of it for right now. Brb

My Relationship With The Goat Foot God

I've always had a weird obsession with fauns and saytrs (not the same thing by the way, but kind of are). I remember watching Narnia for the first time as a child and falling in love with Mr. Tumnus, he was so interesting to me. Look at me now, married to a literal saytr.

I had been recieving not so subtle signs from Pan my entire life, he had been inviting me to his everlasting party if you will. Which basically means the motherfucker was trying to get in contact with me and I just ignored it.

Gods very rarely reach out to specific people, so why me? And how do I know? Well, I'll answer that.

  1. Narnia goat man

  2. My infatuation with all things nature, and not like the normal "OOooooOo I like nature and I'm quirky!!" kind. The kind where I want to strip naked and run through the woods, risking getting poison ivy all up in my cooter.

  3. Musical talent (Pan is also a god of music and dancing)

  4. My husband looks like he does (that shouldn't need explaining)

  5. As a child I had a major crush on someone in my life that looked like he'd be a faun. Like I said, it was basically my life goal to marry the most faun/saytr looking man I could find (ahahaha found him)

  6. Goats, everywhere. All the time. I love them. Precious critters they are.

  7. And the main one, when I called upon him finally, he answered. And he asked me what took me so long.

Now, like I said, it is extremely rare that a god specifically sends a person signs and/or an invitation. So what makes me so special? Well...nothing really. Or maybe I am, I'm not sure, maybe I should ask Pan.

My journey with Pan began when, after mentioning it multiple times, I spoke with my husband about my love of saytrs. He said, in a huff, that I should just talk to Pan already and that it seems like he's been trying to get in contact with me my entire life.

To which I responded, "Who?"

He told me about the Goat Footed God and I couldn't believe it. I never thought I'd want to do deity work/worship, but now that I knew that he'd been sending me signs all my life, it felt like a must. I did as much research as I could on Pan (there's not much unfortunately). Reading about a god, even thinking about a god is worshiping that god, since all worship is is giving something energy. So, I had already begun my journey.

That evening I ran a bath and decided to meditate and try to evoke Pan, which is easier said than done typically. Gods can be quite fussy, especially when you're dealing with one such as Pan, who isn't the most gentle. Let's just say, working with Pan is not fluffy bunny shit. And I was a bit worried, as Pan can be hard to get rid of once he's been evoked. I didn't even expect it to work, but it did. I recited a long ass Hymn to Pan, went under the water to meditate, and he responded. Quickly.

Like I said, he asked me what had taken me so long. We made a deal that I would build him an alter and that I'd give him daily offerings, whether it be wine, tea, blood, candles, incense, etc. and he in return would do stuff for me. The thing with gods is that you can offer pretty much anything to them. I made candles today for Pan because he told me he wanted them. Based on what god you are speaking to, you can guess what they'd want. They will also tell you what they want from you if you can get in contact with them.

Pan is a god of fertility and sex. He's an extremely sexual being, which means you can have sex in honor of him or for him. He is also said to be the god of maturbation (and that he may have even invented it), so you can do that for him as well. It all depends on the god. So the point is, your offering doesn't have to be a material good, but it can be.

I give Pan offerings several times a day, and every few days I will sit down and meditate to actually have a full conversation with him. Although sometimes thoughts enter my head that I know aren't mine, I like to describe them as an airdrop almost, or at least that's what they feel like. It's literally Pan telling me things throughout the day. It feels like your intuition, but like it's coming from somewhere different.

Pan is actively improving my life daily. He's made me happier, my sex life is even better than it was (and it was damn good before lol), my life feels more put together, I have been able to focus on things I love without ADHD meds to help, and things happen in my life that can't just be coincidences, it would be impossible.

Deity worship is complex and difficult. But the number one thing you always have to keep in mind is that you must have boundaries, even with gods. It's extremely difficult with a god such as Pan to keep things strictly buisness, since he is such a lustful god. Everything has a sexual undertone with him (more like overtone). There are other gods that would be just as difficult, but if you let it consume you, gods will take advantage of it. You must treat them like people, because they aren't much different. They need to be respected, but also respect yourself in the process. I will not give Pan something if he's not willing to give in return.

Now, if you are looking for a sexual relationship with a god and you think you're special to them, think again. Gods are very rarely monogamous. Sure, you can have a sexual relationship, but trust me, you aren't the only one jerking it with Loki, ya know?

Before evoking or invoking a god (there's a difference), you need to do your research. Some gods are very particular about the way or even the time they want to be called upon. Pan, for example, doesn't like to be evoked from 12-2 pm everyday, since that is when he naps. Pan is the god of napping as well, sounds odd, but it's true. He gets very angry when disturbed during his nap time, and I wouldn't know that without a lot of research. So it's a good idea to look into whatever god you'd like to try and communicate with before doing it, or else you may make a mistake and ruin your chances of communication.
